About Our Class
ECSE stands for Early Childhood Special Education. Our class is an inclusion classroom- this means we have children with and without disabilities in our room. Our ECSE program at the Early Childhood Center is so wonderful because it creates a community of children with and without disabilities who learn to work and play together.
Being in an inclusion classroom exposes children to others who may look, act, or speak differently; this provides multiple opportunities for all students to learn empathy, patience, and how to be helpful and kind. Our program also teaches the necessary academic skills to ensure students are prepared for kindergarten.
Your child will have 4 teachers- Mrs. Mericle is the ECSE classroom teacher, Ms. Salgado is the Even Start teacher, and our paraprofessionals are Mrs. Strong and Ms. Lawson.
