Fire alarm this morning at Early Childhood Center

The following information was emailed to ECC parents today using the District's Skylert parent communication system.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

I’m writing to share some information with you about a small incident that took place at the Early Childhood Center this morning.

At about 9:15 a.m., our school fire alarm accidentally activated. There was not a fire, and the accident was due to a mechanical issue. However, we are required to evacuate the school during an alarm.

All students and employees were evacuated next door to Deepwater Junior High. Once we received the all-clear, we returned safely to the ECC at about 10 a.m.  The students handled the surprise fire drill well, and there were no issues.

In closing, I want to thank DWJH Principal Rosa Ramos and her staff, who were welcoming and accommodating.

I also want to thank the group of parents with whom I was meeting when the fire alarm sounded. They were supportive and understanding during what could have been a stressful situation. I appreciate their patience and kindness.

Principal, Early Childhood Center
